Non-Medical Support

Why do we have non-medical support at a GP Surgery?

What affects our health (besides going to the doctor)?

Being healthy isn’t just about going to the doctor or taking medicine.
It’s also about how we live, where we live, and what happens around us every day.

Things that can affect our health:
    • Home – Is it warm, clean, and safe?

    • Money – Do we have enough for food, clothes, and bills?

    • School – Can we learn well and understand things?

    • Family & Friends – Do people care about us?

    • Food & Travel – Can we eat healthy food and get around easily?

    • Air & Outdoors – Is the air clean? Can we play outside?

Why this matters:

Even if you go to the doctor, if your home is cold, or you’re feeling sad and alone, it can still make you sick.

In short:

Being healthy is about more than just doctors.
It’s also about having a good place to live, enough money, friends, and feeling safe and happy.

This is why we have care coordinators, social prescribers and other services available to support you with matters that may effect you health, but that are not medical.

Here is some leaflets with information on other organisations that can help
